By: Antoinette Alston, contributing intern Kanye West will be honored with the most prestigious award at MTV’s VMA Awards show, the 2015 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The award was previously awarded to Beyoncé back in 2014, Justin Timberlake in 2013 and Britney Spears in 2011. MTV announced on Tuesday they will be presenting Mr. West with the award due to his countless video achievements on MTV and spectacular performances from past VMA Award shows. Mr. West has not been announced as a performer on the show, but for those of you wondering; some of the performing artists have been announced. The band Walk The Moon will perform their highly-anticipated, VMA nominated song “Shut Up and Dance” right before Nick Jonas performs his latest hit, “Level” for the VMA Per-Show. R&B superstar The Weeknd will be making his fist debut at the VMA’s, performing his smash hit single “I Can’t Feel My Face” along with other performances from profound artists in the music industry such as: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tori Kelly, Demi Lovato, Pharrell, Twenty One Pilots, and A$Ap Rocky. Tune in this Sunday (Aug. 30) at 9/8c EST to MTV’s Video Music Awards, hosted by Miley Cyrus.
