HomeFeature[EXCLUSIVE] Mimi Faust Opens Up About LHHATL, Business Ventures, & Why She Claps Back on Social Media Ms. Bels Friday, August 21, 2015 Feature, Film & Television, Script Xclusive, The Script, The Vault Prev2 of 2Next Use your ← → (arrow) keys to browse As a business woman, the public understood that you owned a cleaning service business and now a management company. What other ventures do you have in the works? I still have my cleaning business and do artist management. I’m actually working on a home décor line. So that’s going to be coming as well soon. I love decorating. That’s something that a lot of people don’t know about me. I started out when I was cleaning years ago myself. People would ask “you know, could you hook up my bathroom and my comforter and stuff. I would go and hook up their bathroom and comforter or bed or whatever and they would say “OMG, you’re really good.” So I got started by doing it like that and when I moved into my home, I decorated my home as well. Whenever someone comes over they’re like “who decorated?” And I’m like “I did.” I really like doing it [home décor]. So I wanted to venture into that as well. Do you plan on doing film or more television programs? I’m in a serious contract with VH1. If I wanted to do other things, I’d have to not be in a contract with VH1. But, yes I would love to do other television, movies and all that. Does your daughter Eva like being on television? Yes, she absolutely loves it. When the camera crew comes to the house, she wants to see behind the camera. Once she gets all those questions answered, she’ll walk in front of the camera. She’s so intrigued by it. She wants to know everything about it, not just being in front. She wants to know how to work it, which buttons to push. So yes she wants to know all about it. In a recent article, you acknowledged Joseline’s help in straightening out your family dynamic. How was that conversation with Joseline? I’ve never had a decent conversation with Joseline actually. What I meant by that was, had she not come into our lives and disrupted what we had going on, I’d probably still be with Stevie. I’m very fortunate that she did come in and take him away out of my life. We’ve gotten back to that friendship and I appreciate and respect our friendship way more than I did our relationship. Our relationship was f*cked up. [laughs] Thank God. Thank you Jesus for bringing this woman in our lives for loving our relationship enough to have this woman come into our life and have her take over the role that I was playing. Because guess what sweetheart, that’s your problem not mine. Do you think you and Stevie will ever get back together? No. It’s too much water under the bridge. I love him dearly, but I love him from a far. How do you handle social media backlash? We’ve seen you clap back at people before on Instagram and Twitter. How difficult is it for you to ignore it? Let me put it to you like this…and I try to pose this to everyday average people. If you no matter what you did, no matter how small or how big on your social media posted a picture and you had thousands of people coming at you who don’t know you, negatively talking about you, talking about your child, talking about any little thing you do, at some point you’re going to say something to at least one of those people. There’s only so much you can take as a human being. I don’t know who everyone thinks we’re supposed to be. These super-humans with no feelings. We’re not. We’re humans and we have feelings. At some point, not even that you’re mad or angry, it’s just like f*ck you and you respond. Plain and simple. I can do that. If I feel like responding to somebody to some bullsh*t on my page, I will. Period. Now, I don’t sit there and read every single comment. I might skim through and see somebody who said something real ridiculous and I respond. That’s the bottom line. I’m not emotional. I’m not none of that sh*t. I simply responded to some sh*t I read and that was that. I keep it moving, my day goes on. But come on….anybody, I don’t give a d**n who you are, if I post a picture of my pinky finger, they are going to have something negative to say. Something, somebody will. It’s ridiculous. I could put up a picture of my child. My child’s a whore a baby slut…it doesn’t matter. It is ridiculous. So, a lot of times I just ignore it, but sometimes you respond. And the times that I do, there’s a thousand people waiting to hit up ShadeRoom or Baller Alert or whatever and put it on there. “Oh she responded!” Yeah mother**ker I did, so what. You would too. So let’s be clear. What is some advice you want to tell the people on social media? You can’t judge someone, especially someone that you don’t know from watching a television show. I’m going to break this down for you right quick. You guys are watching a two-hour taping. Two-hours out of a 24-hour day. Those two hours get chopped down and edited down to 5 or 6 minutes. Out of a 24-hour day out of someones whole entire life and if you [the public] think you know somebody from watching a two-hour taping that’s been edited down to 5 or 6 minutes, you’re crazy. For the people that’s out there watching “Love and Hip Hop” and think that is the Bible, that is what it is. It’s incredible. You can’t judge someone based on 5 or 6 minutes edited out of a two-hour scene. “Scene” mind you! Come on man. If you break it down like that, it’s crazy to think you know somebody and place judgement and ridicule somebody. It’s incredible. Don’t judge unless you yourself have been in that person’s shoes. How long do you plan on being on “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta”? That’s an interesting question. Everytime you sign on, you either get extended out another season. So at this point, I’m at nine seasons. [laughs] I really can’t see myself doing this another nine seasons and stay sane. I don’t know, I may have another season left in me. But, I don’t know. That will have to be negotiated. The money will have to be right. Because believe it or not, watching it and living it and having to deal with it, is two completely different things. It is very, very stressful. Like you have no idea. We film ten months out of the year. So, it consumes my “everything.” I’m being courageous by even trying to do other things. “Love and Hip Hop” takes up so much of my time that it’s crazy. At the end of the day, when all of this is over, what do you want YOUR story to be? For me to say for me people to know who I truly am, that’s a little outrageous because no one will really know that. I want to raise an amazing little girl and I want my daughter to be my legacy. Lord knows I have f*cked my sh*t up. [laughs] So, I’d just want to start over like with her [Eva]. Teaching her the right way to do things. You know what I’m saying. I just want her to be an amazing person. I want to raise her up in that right way. I didn’t have that growing up. I didn’t have guidance. I didn’t have a parent (mother or father) to tell me right from wrong. Or don’t do it this way, do it that way. I want to instill morals and values in my daughter so when she’s big, she can do the same thing with her children and other children around her. I think that’s important because it starts with the youth. To add, Mimi Faust is now in the hair business.
