ScoreBoard: Mercury Escape Dream with 71-68 Win

Candice Dupree helped the Phoenix Mercury defeat the Atlanta Dream 71-68 in Atlanta. Dupree scored a game-high 27 points to go with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Monique Currie scored 14 points and was the only Mercury player to make a three-pointer. Leilani Mitchell posted 10 points and 4 assists for the Mercury. Brittany Griner had a quiet game while being in foul trouble making 4 out of 11 shots, with 9 points, 7 rebounds and a game-high 5 blocks.

Angel McCoughtry led the Dream with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Tiffany Hayes scored 13 points for the Dream. Shoni Schimmel came off the bench with 11 points and a team-high 3 steals. Aneika Henry posted 9 points and 9 rebounds for the Dream. The Dream trailed by 12 points at halftime and the game was tied the end of the third quarter. Henry got an offensive rebound and scored with 0.8 seconds making it 69-68. DeWanna Bonner made the final two free throws for Mercury and with 0.1 seconds remaining it was too late for the Dream.

The Mercury have now won three games in a row and are 12-7 with second best record in the Western Conference. The Dream are 7-13 and have lost five games in a row.
