Bolt was the fastest man like he always is clocking in at 9.79 seconds and Gatlin finished second with 9.80 seconds. Finishing third was American Trayvon Bromell and Canadian Andre De Grasse with 9.92 seconds. Only seven runners competed in the 100 meters and four of the Americans finished in the top six. Bolt captured his third 100-meter world title and first since 2013. Gatlin almost went two years without losing a race, he hasn’t lost since September 6th, 2013. The American Gatlin has been considered the fastest man in the world the last two years with the Jamaican Bolt battling injuries. Bolt was the fastest man in the world before the injuries and some people considered Gatlin the favorite to win this race. From the looks of it, Bolt is still the fastest man in the world. Gatlin is his biggest completion and they will have more upcoming battles to determine the fastest man in the world. Photo credit: NY Times
