Finally, somebody is getting paid out of this Cash Money Records ordeal.

The longstanding lawsuit against Cash Money by Jas Prince and Aspire Music Group has reached an agreement. Earlier this month, the court awarded Prince $11 million in damages for royalties unpaid to him for his former artist, Drake. Jas Prince discovered Drake and signed him to Aspire back in 2007. Later, Cash Money signed Drake and agreed to pay Prince and Aspire 22% of Drake’s royalties.

Cash Money tried to prove in court that their deal was with Aspire and not Jas Prince. According to the Jasmine Brand, Lil Wayne’s manager, Cortez Bryant, showed a conflict of interest by serving as an executive for Aspire. Prince sued Bryant for allegedly bringing Drake to Cash Money under this sketchy deal. Later, Bryant was fired for auditing Cash Money’s record books to see how much they owed Aspire in royalties.

Prince’s stance was that Bryant is the reason Aspire did not sue Cash Money.  His close relationship with Wayne, Birdman, and the label, Cash Money, prevented Bryant from being unbiased when it came to the royalty payments.
