HomeFeatureJay Z’s Watch Collection Named One of the Most Valuable in the World admin Wednesday, October 7, 2015 Feature, Music, The Studio Hip Hop mogul Jay Z has made great strides in music, real estate, fashion and more. He’s also making moves when it comes to being a collector. Now, Jay Z is being recognized for his extensive collection in Robb Report’s “Robb 50” list. The list features the names of the world’s most influential in business and entertainment. Jay Z, as well as the others, are true connoisseurs of automobiles, jewelry, art, wine, watches, sports memorabilia, and Thoroughbreds. “These aficionados are recognized not because they own the largest or most valuable collections (though many do), but because their appreciation and detailed understanding of their chosen subjects have earned them the deep respect of their peers and industry experts,” explains Robb Report Editor in Chief Brett Anderson. Jay Z’s timepiece collection is noted as one of the most grandioso. His obvious preferences of Audemars Piguet, Rolex, and Hublot has received numerous mentions in raps and has even garnered a some business partnerships. The limited-edition timepiece born from that collaboration debuted in 2013. It was available in either black ceramic or 18-karat yellow gold and featured a cutaway dial depicting Carter’s Maltese-cross-like logo, which partially revealed the manual-wind movement. More complicated timepieces incorporating Carter’s feedback—among them a tourbillon—are expected over the course of his 5-year partnership with Hublot. The actual value of Jay Z’s watch collection is unavailable. Robb 50 also includes music-industry mogul David Geffen; former Tonight Show host Jay Leno; best-selling novelist Danielle Steele; philanthropists and entrepreneurs Eli and Edythe Broad; Kendall-Jackson owner Barbara Banke; former Goldman Sachs managing director Joe Wender; Brazilian philanthropist Lily Safra; Geary’s Beverly Hills president Bruce Meyer; and socialite Dede Wilsey, a descendant of Dow Chemical’s founder.
