The popularity of the video streaming service has reached over 42 million subscribers and numerous self-produced original programming. In order to continue to produce these shows, Netflix is increasing their monthly subscription fee by $1. Subscribers will now pay $10 a month in the standard plan. According to Netflix execs, the increase in rate is based on financial pressure from their competition, Amazon.com and HBO. Netflix has made a huge turnaround from the days of offering only out-dated movies. Although the movie collection is still there, the internet video service has reaped new benefits with superb shows like “House of Cards,” “Orange Is The New Black,” and most recently, “Narcos”. The whole concept of “chilling” has a entirely new feel due to Netflix. People love Netflix and shouldn’t have a problem paying an extra dollar. Hey, sometimes it costs to chill. 🙂
