The state of South Carolina has finally settled with he family of Walter Scott. He was the unarmed black man fataly shot by a white police officer. The crime was captured on video, which proved that the officer shot down Scott as he ran away.

The $6.5 million settlement was approved by the North Charleston City Council by a 10-0 vote. Scott’s family says it’s a “bittersweet victory” because justice is still lingering in the air for the police officer. Officer Michael Slager is currently indicted in jail without bond. He faces 30 years to life without parole if convicted of murder.
