Lovers of the Bond installments will be thrilled that “Spectre” landed number one at the box office. Over the weekend, James Bond, played by Daniel Craig, brought in approximately $296.1M worldwide. The spy action thriller grossed $73M in the U.S. and the bulk of it’s revenue from overseas, totaling over $223.1M. According to Deadline.com, Spectre did not do as good Skyfall in the American markets, which debuted in 2012. The new installment also didn’t do as good in the UK this time around. In fact, the box office sales dropped 29%.

It’s also been rumored that Daniel Craig is ready to retire from his role as Bond. He’s hinted at want to go for other interesting and challenging roles. How his departure from future projects will affect the Bond series, it’s unclear. However, the idea of Idris Elba (or someone of his caliber) could also be a good substitution. Or even a female in the role would be interesting.
