New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams was robbed of $750,000 in jewelry over the weekend. Guess how? By two women he brought back to his apartment after a night of partying. According to the NY Post, Williams brought two chicks to his Tribeca apartment and was later robbed of a Louis Vuitton jewelry case that contained $750,000 worth of jewels. The 24-year-old told police that he’d been celebrating the Knick’s Friday victory over the Philadelphia 76ers with a crew of friends at the Up & Down club. He met two random women. They went back to his place and around 4:00pm Saturday Williams was looking for his Louis Vuitton case and it was gone. Williams is considered “fresh meat” to thirsty, conniving women who prey on wealthy men like him. As a NBA player, who signed a two-year, $8.8 million contract with the Knicks this season, women and men both have their eye on Williams. And for certain, they are keeping a watchful eye for one reason and that is to rob him. This is why people like Williams, athletes, and entertainers must be aware of what they post on Instagram and other social media sites. Williams, for instance, has been spotted on Instagram many times flashing his expensive chains and watches. In the eyes of a thief, Williams is a prime target. So, how could Williams have protected himself from being robbed? Here are a few “common sense” tips: Never take strange chicks to your home. Get a hotel room. Whomever these women were, they were never good enough to be taken to your crib. They are complete strangers. Williams failed the first part of the test by bringing them to his Tribeca apartment. It’s not like he doesn’t have the money to afford a hotel room for the night. Even if he wanted stay low-key and didn’t want to risk anyone seeing him and the girls out in public, he could have posted up in a hotel room and signaled the women to come by later on. Keep your valuables in a safe. With almost a billion dollars in jewelry, it’s careless to leave jewelry in a Louis Vuitton case. First off, the case itself is flashy and will invite theives to come snatch it up. Second, if the jewelry is in a case, at least put the case in a safe or someplace that NO ONE can access it. Romp around in a guest room or another part of the house, not your main bedroom. If you plan to have guest over for a night of fun, get your partying on in another part of the house. This area should be away from your main bedroom or closet space. People have a tendency to walk around your house and be nosey. So, keep your house guest stashed away in another part of the home, away from your prize possessions. Keep your doors locked. The last thing you want to do is fall asleep and all of your closet or room doors are unlocked. Williams probably was drunk and was oblivious to what was going on because he was sleep. If you fall asleep, you can always lock your doors as precaution. Get a main girl, leave the groupie chicks alone. Having a main, steady girlfriend that you can trust is better than romping around with groupies. Groupies nowadays are nothing but trouble. These two women played the game right and was able to walk away with $750,000 in jewelry. But, if Williams had a significant other, he wouldn’t have had the urge to bring home some chicks he didn’t even know. Hopefully, Williams learned his lesson about groupies and the trouble they bring. Yeah, he is young but he’s wealthy and these type of mistakes just can’t be made.
