Kelly Rowland is taking a stab at creating the next superstar girl group.

In a documentary series, which will air on BET in April, “Chasing Destiny”  will bring together an unknown number of girls create the next powerhouse group. Kelly Rowland and veteran choreographer Frank Gatson, has completed a three-city trek in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and New York to find the right girls.

“I don’t care where they are, where they live, where they’re from, their background – I just want to make sure that I have girls in the group who are not afraid to work, who are excited about a great opportunity, who have goals and think, and breathe, and sleep music,” Rowland said in an interview last week.

Rowland and Gatson are not sure how many girls will be selected for the group. However, hundreds of girls have auditioned…even at a secret audition stop in New Orleans.

So why is Kelly Rowland so pressed about creating this group? She says that the industry is missing the Destiny’s Child’s, Xscape’s, and SWV’s. There’s a void that need to be filled and it’s way past due according to Kelly.

“When Destiny’s Child was around I remember there was Xscape, there was SWV, there was En Vogue, there was the Cheetah Girls,” she said. “There were all these different types of groups, and these different types of girls groups, and there’s just one (now) – you’re kidding me? Like, get out of here. It should definitely be more.”
