If it isn’t tech, then you can pretty much kiss the business goodbye. Taking your business to the online/digital realm is valuable profit wise and marketability. This is why the popular Topgolf entertainment center is focusing on capturing a hole-in-one with the digital golf audience. Today, Topgolf announced that they have acquired World Golf Tour, the leading online and mobile golf game. With more than 14 million players worldwide, Topgolf will enhance guests playing experiences by offering in-venue gaming, app upgrades, more digital content and more. World Golf Tour fans will be able to continue their gaming experience, but also be able to play Topgolf virtually with new games featuring Topgolf’s dartboard-like outfield. Topgolf has 24 venues worldwide and serves 8 million + guests (in 2015 alone). It opened several venues in key markets in 2015 and will continue to open more locations in 2016. The U.K. company is led by CEO Ken May. Under the acquisition, Topgolf has formed Topgolf Media to enhance the entertainment options and content for Topgolf guests. Some enhancements will include strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and advanced digital media. World Golf Tour Co-Founder and CEO YuChiang Cheng will serve as president of Topgolf Media.
