Music production is making more waves than ever. As the popularity of Pharrell Williams, Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Swizz Beats is set in stone, there are a list of young beat makers that are paving the way for the next generation. Not only paving a #CareerGoals type of way, but also in a financial way as well. This year, Forbes crowned two producers as Hip-Hop Cash Princes. Boi-1da and Metro Boomin were voted for by a panel of judges, which included Charlamagne Tha God of The Breakfast Club. The list represented hip-hop acts (rappers and producers) who are all under the age of 30 and on the fast track of becoming the next Hip-Hop Cash Kings. Canadian Boi-1da started producing at age 15. He landed two tracks on Drake’s 2006 mixtape Room for Improvement. His hit list has included 2x platinum “Best I Ever Had” and “Headlines.” Boi-1da also co-produced Kendrick Lamar’s powerful song “The Blacker the Berry,” which he performed at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. Metro Boomin was a former Morehouse College student but dropped out and chose music instead. He’s a hugely popular producer that has worked with Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Ludacris, Big Sean, ILoveMakonnen, Young Thug, Future and the list goes on. Metro Boomin’s biggest hits were Future’s “Karate Chop” featuring Lil Wayne, “Honest,” and “I Won” feat. Kanye West. The Atlanta-based producer also produced Travi$ Scott’s “3500” and the platinum certified “Tuesday” by ILoveMakonnen. One Response
