MUSIC REVIEW: ScienZe – #GeorgiaTape. LP

scienze-georgia-tape

Scienze is underrated. There is no other way to describe how this man’s music is ignored or unappreciated. Sure, he isn’t on some super-lyrical craze. And no, he doesn’t make trap music. He makes chill out, jazzy-love vibes for people to enjoy. It is almost as if his music is for the healing of the soul. And that should give him more props.

Whether he gets his props is beyond him. However, #GeorgiaTape. is still a nice way to show love to his family and his southern roots.

If any of his fans out there are expecting something different from the norm, then they will be sadly disappointed or happily obliged that he stuck to his guns. While each song makes reference to a place in the Atlanta area (for the most part), what is noticeable is the love he has to share for his people. Whether he is riding slow or coasting down 85, “Buckhead” still rides. “King of Diamonds” let the xylophone lead the chorus into a repeat of “shake that ass” with the right amount of smoothness for the strippers. Subjectively, this album takes on different subject matter with the typical Scienze approach.

And that is the beauty in this album. When the skits play, there is an understanding that this album is just a pure recollection of beautiful memories of an area of family and unfamiliarity. Yet, the album plays as an ode to the beauty of belonging to the alternate homeland. It is this recollection that allows this album to work. The beauty within this album is all in the details of a land that can be called a second home.

At the end of the day, this album is dedicated to strong roots from the hard love and dedication of an aunt and a grandmother. This is why Scienze didn’t stray away from his usual themes: he would have to keep it true to what he always represents. #GeorgiaTape. is a family album. It is a labor of love. So, it would make sense for an artist of love to make another album drenched in what he understands best: love.
