Last night (March 29), the Oxygen network premiered its new reality show “Like A Boss.” The show features media mogul Nick Cannon, V103 radio personality Big Tigger, record executive Abou “Bu” Thiam, and one of Georgia’s top realtor’s Blair Meeks.

The premise of the television program is to show the everyday grind of assistants. Executive producer Nick Cannon decided to show the behind-the-scenes work ethics of assistants to some of the industry’s top executives. Do they have what it takes to be successful? Well, Rian Parrish (Big Tigger), Amber Grimes (Nick Cannon), Drekia Glenn (Bu Thiam), and Devin Simpson (Blair Meeks) will show viewers that they are in it to win it as they strive to become just as business savvy as their mentors.

The first episode showcased the diverse personalities of each assistant.

Drekia, off top, is over-the-top. Her willingness to turn her street grind into a next-level career is seen as she begins working for Bu. He mentions that she stalked him on social media until he approved her apprenticeship. A go-getter she is, but it is her very opinionated that may make or break her job.

Big Tigger’s assistant, Rian, seems to have a close friendship with her boss. However, as a mother, she feels like it’s time for her to truly follow in his footsteps.

Poor Devin started off real shaky in this first episode. It is his overwhelming charm that Blair sees as very useful in the real estate business. Unfortunately, Devin’s constant meet-ups with random chicks from Tinder, is causing a riff between him and bossman Blair.

Finally, Amber comes off as the quintessential employee. Prim, proper, and well-spoken, Amber’s conflict is her ambitiousness. She and Nick bump heads at the thought of her not having enough time to cater to his business needs. Also, for Amber this is a step back in her career. She hopes, however, that working with Nick will accelerate her entrepreneurial dreams.

What’s great about this show is that viewers get to see the power of mentorship. The inner workings of the entertainment and real estate industries are tough. Executives have a hard time keeping their businesses organized and profitable. Luckily, there are determined and dedicated assistants being groomed to salvage the day-to-day intricacies.
