We just got word that Ashanti will be executive producing her first movie, “Mothers and Daughters.” The GRAMMY Award-winning singer/songwriter will also have a role in the film, which is scheduled to be released on May 6. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with this great cast and crew on my first feature film executive producing efforts. I have such a close relationship with my mom, who is also my manager, aka Momanger so I really related to this project,” Ashanti explains. “Mothers and Daughters” stars Sharon Stone, Susan Sarandon, Courtney Cox, Christina Ricci, and many others. The film encompasses various stories about what it means to be a mom, which is being thought about by Rigby Gray. Rigby is a photographer who’s successful career comes at a halt once she gets pregnant on the whim. Director Paul Duddridge want to capture the love between mothers and their children and how they connect in today’s world.
