By: Alex Ro, contributing intern (@alexrolive ) You would imagine being the heiress of a successful syndicated radio personality, comedian, TV host, and community leader would hold it benefits. Well, think again. If you are living in the Smiley household and you hold a function mirroring anything close to the originators of House Party 1, 2, or 3, then you would be sleeping next to one of Rickey Smiley’s luxurious cars in the garage. This show is one “REAL”ity check for real. As Rickey works hard to balance his career life, he is also raising five kids in Alabama as a single father and it is no stroll in the park. This season, you will take a peek into the lives of Smiley’s youngest boys. As both are struggling to focus in school and behave, all while Smileys disciplining techniques are nothing short of what black households are familiar with. Also, Smiley’s adopted daughter, D’ Essence Smiley, who is the courageous independent young woman that is finding out who she is as she attends college. She’s trying to dismiss all the unnecessary dead weight in her life, which includes that of an ex-boyfriend named Landon who tries to creep his way back into her life, but social media just might have been the last straw in their reconciliation. Rickey is pulled in many directions, but his relationship with his youngest daughter, Aaryn, will be a “must watch.” The young 9th grader is growing into her own and seeks the approval of her father to attend the debutante ball and wants to bring a young man. “Rickey Smiley For Real” Season 2 is filled with unmatched comical reality, various business ventures (including that of Gary from Dish Nation’s Thong Line), and relationship make up and break ups. But, if one thing is for sure, Rickey Smiley’s love for his family is undoubtingly his number one priority and that is For Real.
