President Barack Obama kept it lighthearted during his speech at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. This was Obama’s final participation in the event. He signified it with a hilarious “Obama out” moment, in which he the dropped the mic. The roomed was filled with laughs from some of the country’s most notable politicians, journalists, and entertainers. It was Obama’s moment to shade his peers and as such he did. While at the podium, Obama joked about things that occurred during his presidency and his personal journey. Here’s a few of his best quotes: “Last week Prince George showed up to our meeting in his bathrobe,” Obama cracked. “That was a slap in the face.” “Eight years ago I said it was time to change the tone of our politics. In hindsight, I clearly should have been more specific.” “I’m gray, grizzled … counting down the days to my death panel.” “The last time I was this high,” he said, “I was trying to decide on my major.” “If this material works well, I’m going to use it at Goldman Sachs next year,” Obama stated. “Earn me some serious Tubmans.” Obama’s jokes, however, was a bit more well-received than those from comedian Larry Wilmore. Appointed as the headliner of the evening, Wilmore took shots from the gate that left the room with mixed emotions. “Welcome to Negro night,” Wilmore said, adding on the notion that Fox News reported “two thugs” disrupted an elegant dinner. He also threw in jabs at MCNBC for firing black anchors. One hilarious moment, however, was when Wilmore recognized the amount of stress that comes with being the president. “You came in here looking like Denzel, now you’re going out looking like Grady from ‘Sanford and Son,” joked Wilmore.
