Viacom stuck with their promise of releasing a line of streaming apps. One of them being BET Play. As of today, the app is available in 100 countries, not the U.S. as of yet, and comes with a monthly fee of $3.99. The launch of the app is meant to ramp up interest in the 2016 BET Awards, which take place this Sunday. In previous years, viewers needed a cable subscription to watch. In addition to a live stream of the BET Awards, BET Play will allow viewers to stream “current” episodes from 16 different shows, including 106 & Park, Kevin Hart’s Real Husbands of Hollywood, and Gabrielle Union’s Being Mary Jane. The app also features a live, linear stream of BET’s music channel BET Soul. Source: The Verge
