It didn’t take long before Joe Budden released his third diss track, “Afraid.” It took two previous disses before Drake took shots at Joe on French Montana’s “No Shopping,” which hit the internet on Saturday. However, Budden’s comeback is much harder and shows why he is respected as one of hip-hop’s best lyricists. Creatively, Budden took a sample of Drake’s “The Resistance” from his 2010 Thank Me Later album. The song “Afraid” simply asks the question “What Are You Afraid Of?,” a question that’s not only puzzling Budden but fans too. “Wish we could go back and grab the Blackberry with the scroll, oh / Yeah Aubrey that’s the one we trusted / Not this new Aubrey with his stomach sculpted / I’m disgusted, you’re such a fuckin’ incumbent / Can’t govern, trust in the public becoming a fucking puppet.” Listen to the diss track below:
