NBC has greenlit another talent competition show called “The Stream.” The show utilizes social media and the tech world to gain competitors and select a winner. The next musical superstar will be able to submit their performance via video and be voted on. The 100 most-streamed artists will be ask to participate in a industry showcase and then handpicked to compete on The Stream’s live weekly television show. “The Stream brilliantly uses technology and social media to draw music lovers in and make them a part of the process,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment’s alternative and reality group president. “We’re excited to discover talent in this modern way and connect the best artists with the industry’s top starmakers.” The series, which is based on a Norwegian format of the same name, is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio in association with Monster, TV2, Nordic World and Little Hill.
