“American Crime Story” is looking to regain the same success of its series “The People v. O.J. Simpson” with the scandal that rocked the White House. The affair that made Monica Lewinsky as household name is rumored to be coming to FX. Jeffrey Toobin, who authored the book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson,” is said to be teaming up with FX again to produce the series. The playout of former President Bill Clinton and Lewinsky’s affair will be based on Toobin’s book, “A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.” Toobin’s book focuses on Lewinsky’s affair with Clinton while serving as an intern from 1995-96. Clinton was eventually impeached on charges of lying under the oath to a federal grand jury and obstruction of justice. According to ABCNews, “American Crime Story” is currently in production mode with two upcoming series. One is “Katrina,” a story that explores the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and “Versace,” the mystery of the 1997 murder or fashion designer Gianni Versace. “Katrina” is set to air in 2018.
