The road to success for Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine will soon be told via an upcoming HBO documentary. “The Defiant Ones” is a four-part series that details the business relationship between Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine and their rise to success. The documentary will feature artists such as Eminem, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Nas. In addition, “The Defiant Ones” will air unseen footage of recording sessions with N.W.A. and Eazy-E. The documentary is directed by Allen Hughes of “Menace II Society” and “The Book of Eli” fame. Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine cultivated their relationships through the creation of Interscope Records and Aftermath Entertainment. In 2006, the two power players founded Beats Electronics and eventually sold the company to Apple for $3 billion. “The Defiant Ones” airs July 9 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
