The head of the Barbie tribe, Nicki Minaj, holds her own as one of hip-hop’s most revered female artist. She started her career spitting bars on the streets of Jamaica Queens, New York, which ultimately led her to signing a record deal with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment. From there, the rest is history. Hundreds of records later, Nicki Minaj is a pop star. She still spit bars, but some fans (and critics alike) believe she strayed away a bit from her hip-hop roots. Nicki Minaj’s “No Frauds” shows us that she’s back on her sh*t, although her verse on the song isn’t considered her best (in comparison to Drake and Lil Wayne). Nonetheless, the reigning queen of Billboard Hot 100 hits is letting fans know that she’s hip-hop to the def and her fourth studio album will vouch for that. In a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid, on his Whoolywood Shuffle on Shade 45, Nicki Minaj is promising her fans a classic hip hop album. She speaks on giving her day one fans what they want…an amazing album. “My goal right now is just releasing this fourth album and watching my fans react to it,” she said. “Because I know it’s going to be my best body of work. And I always love to be in real time and see my fans reacting to something. So that’s what I’m looking forward to. Now obviously I’m not telling them when my album is coming out but I just know that it’s going to be amazing because I want to thank the people who rocked with me all these years. Like my fans are a different level of diehard! I always feel like I gotta make them proud. I gotta go hard! I gotta impress them! Because they’re always waiting for me! That’s a blessing in itself. “So that’s next on my bucket list. To deliver my fourth album and make sure it’s a classic Hip Hop album that people will never forget.” Nicki Minaj also talks Lil Wayne and Drake and their reunion at the Billboard Music Awards, the NBA finals, and much more. The Whoolywood Shuffle interview with Nicki Minaj airs on Saturday (June 10) on Shade 45.
