Music mogul and businessman, Percy “Master P” Miller and singer, songwriter and TV star Tameka “Tiny” Harris held a press conference on Thursday (Aug. 17) in Atlanta to make a major announcement. Master P, as owner of the New Orleans Gators, and Tiny Harris, the first female owner of a coed professional basketball team the Atlanta Heirs, the two announced that their teams will battle it out in the first Global Mixed Gender Basketball game on September 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Master P recently told Nola.com that female players are just as good as men and that’s what make this league so special. “There are some great female basketball players on a professional level that are just as good as men,” Master P said. “But we never see that…[It will] change the game when you see that they really have some women who can compete with men. That’s what we’re going to get out of this league.” Master P is also the newly appointed President of GMGB. The leagues CEO James Scott picked Miller to led the league because of his past basketball career and business acumen. “We are delighted that Mr. Miller has accepted this appointment. Under his guidance, our league, which has been in existence since 2013, will be able to expand both domestically and abroad. This iconic individual has the star power to propel the league to unimaginable heights.” To find out more information on the league and future game dates, visit www.globalmixedgenderbasketball.com.
