Netflix is set to premiere a hip hop comedy that will star Wiz Khalifa, French Montana and Teyana Taylor. “The After Party” is being slated as a comedy film that involves two besties whose on a mission to land a record deal. The two are trying to get the deal before heading off to college and the military. In one night, the friends are vying to change the course of their future. The film is written and directed by Ian Edelman (“How to Make It in America”). Russell Simmons’ Def Pictures will team up wit Live Nation Productions, Hunting Lane Films and WorldStarHipHop to produce the film. “The After Party” is being filmed in New York and will include scenes from The Meadows Music and Arts Festival and a concert at Gramercy Theatre. WorldStarHipHop’s founder the late Lee “Q” O’Denat developed the idea due to his love of classic like American Graffiti and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Others cast in the film are rapper Kyle, Blair Underwood, Jordan Rock (Chris Rock’s brother), Harrison Holzer and Shelley Hennig. The film is scheduled for release in 2018. Photo courtesy of RapWAVE.
