At last night’s 2018 Golden Globes, actress and media mogul Oprah Winfrey became the first black woman to receive the coveted Cecil B. DeMille Award. The 63-year-old billionaire was awarded the honor by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for her outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.

“I want all the girls watching to know a new day is on the horizon. And when that new day finally dawns, it will be because of a lot of magnificent women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, and some pretty phenomenal men, fighting hard to make sure they are the leaders to take us to the time where nobody has to say ‘me too’ again,” stated Oprah.

These sentiments and others acknowledged the ongoing allegations of sexual harassment and abuse within the entertainment realm. Oprah Winfrey vowed that “speaking your truth” is warranted in helping to stop this ugly issue.
