Former Bad Boy artist Craig Mack passed away at his home in Walterboro, South Carolina from natural causes. He was 47. Craig Mack was best known for his 1994 hit “Flava in Ya Ear,” which was released on Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. The single was certified platinum and nominated for Best Rap Performance at the Grammy’s in 1995. The video, directed by Hype Williams, became a definitive piece of art that helped create the look and feel of 1990’s hip-hop. Craig Mack’s success continued with the gold-certified single “Get Down.” His debut album, “Project: Funk Da World,” was followed with a second album “Operation: Get Down.” By the time the second project was released, Mack changed labels in 1997. He soon after left the music industry to focus on religion. Craig Mack attempted a comeback with his 2012 mixtape “Operation Why2K?” and an album,“The Mack World Sessions,” in 2017. Longtime friend and former producer Alvin Toney told New York’s Daily News that Mack was ill for some time and knew he did not have long to live. “He was prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord,” Toney said. “He was prepared to do that. He wasn’t scared. He was ready.” R.I.P. Craig Mack! Photo credit: Getty Images
