Twitch’s popular Fortnite game is in a copyright infringement battle with another video game, Players Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). The Korean publisher PUBG has filed a lawsuit against Fortnite’s creator Epic Games Korea, according to The Korean Times. PUBG claims that Fortnite copied user interfaces and items in its battle royale mode. PUBG is seeking to stop Fortnite from being released in Korea. No word yet on whether PUBG will file injuctions in other parts of the world. Lawsuits that are based on “look and feel” are hard to win in most courts. So, it will be interesting to see how PUBG’s arguments hold up in Korean court.
