Back in September ’08, STACKS Magazine brought you information on Andre 3000’s new clothing line called Benjamin Bixby. Well the exclusive apparel club, the Gilt Groupe, recently interviewed Andre and found out more details about his new venture.

What was your inspiration for this collection?
I am inspired by all places I’ve been and things I’ve seen. How would you describe the Benjamin Bixby brand?
I’ve always loved fashion and I am a collector of clothing, accessories and unique objects. Benjamin Bixby is a collection of timeless, sophisticated menswear and accessories with a nod to old-world craftsmanship. I have designed the collection with a distinctive and confident individual in mind and aim to bring a “rough luxury” to men’s fashion, offering a rebellious new-American edge.

Who is “Benjamin Bixby”?
Benjamin Bixby was launched from my desire to design apparel and accessories I personally wanted to own and wear. An education in vintage garments was key to ensure authenticity is at the core of my collection. I am inspired by all things and places. I wanted to create a collection that would take the individuals through an endless number of stories and experiences. Benjamin Bixby is the character that represents the individual, adventurous, rebel spirit in us all.

What are the key pieces every man should have in their closet?
My favorite pieces include the leather varsity bomber jacket and the “plus four trousers”. I also love the football jersey (BXY24), which incorporates the X of the rebel gentleman. The sculpted tailored Jackets are classic pieces tailored to enhance the male form.

What is your style secret?
Benjamin Bixby is very much a reflection of my personal style and love for fashion. With this collection, I offer classics along with a unique twist and a special eye to details- similar to the way I approach dressing.

What do you have going on in 2009?
For 2009, I am focusing on growing the Benjamin Bixby brand, releasing an Andre’ 3000 album/project, and producing film and television ideas.
