Who said Hip Hop was dead? If you let me tell it, it’s ALIVE and ALL over the freaking place. Just take a look around…TV commercials, sporting events, video games, even in the church.

Next up we have Grammy award-winning rapper/actor Common joining the ranks of adding clothing designer to his resume. See still ALIVE!!!

Now here’s the ALL over the freaking place part!

Common has partnered with Microsoft (one of the biggest companies in the WORLD might I add) in designing four retro style t-shirts for a new clothing line called “Softwear”.

The Softwear line, which has a modern-day hip-hop meets 80’s vintage appeal, celebrates 1985 as a pivotal year for Microsoft — the year the company launched its first version of Windows and when hip-hop became mainstream. Overall, it connects the “nostalgia” of the early days of computers and how the “marriage between hip-hop and technology has changed the entertainment industry.”

On how he’s feels his technological fashion venture, Common says, “I really believe that the brand is a combination of what Microsoft is about and what Common is about. I’m a creative artist, a progressive artist, and I strive to be soulful and innovative, and for me, I think Microsoft is becoming more educated on the [hip-hop] industry and they’re becoming more creative and innovative, too.”

I think it’s pretty safe to say that at this point Hip-Hop is bound to pop up anywhere at anytime. Hip-Hop is alive…it’s alive I tell ya!!!
