70's 'Blacula" Actress Dies at 65 admin Friday, July 16, 2010 The Script One of Black Hollywood’s prominent actresses from the blaxploitation film era of the 1970s has passed away. Vonetta McGee who was once deemed as “one of the busiest and most beautiful black actresses” by the LA Times was best known for her starring roles in the films ‘Blacula’, ‘Hammer’, ‘The Eiger Sanction’ and the crime-drama ‘Melinda’. McGee also starred in several episodes of the 1980s drama series ‘Cagney & Lacey’. McGee leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, son, mother, three brothers and a sister.
