The Weeknd has filed a lawsuit to grab hold exclusive usage of the word “Starboy.” TMZ reports the Canadian-born singer is suing a realtor name Eymun Talasazan. Talasazan, who attorney’s claim is on a mission to trademark some of the most well-known titles in music, filed to trademark “Starboy” according to federal records. However, the realtor waited until Weeknd’s Starboy album and single did numbers on the music charts. His trademark application claimed that the name was being filed for upcoming future creative projects. Talasazan also filed a trademark for a comic book using the same name only 11 days after Weekend and Marvel announced that they were working on a Starboy comic book. According to TMZ, Talasazan was clearly looking to capitalize off of the trademark(s). He previously filed to trademark “Straight Outta Bombton” and “Runnin’ Through the 6.” The Weeknd continues to drop hot music. On Friday, he dropped a surprise six-song EP, ‘My Dear Melancholy’. The EP features collaborations with French producer Gesaffelstein, who worked on Yeezus, as well as Frank Dukes and Nicolas Jaar. The EP is expected to sell 150-175K copies the first week.
